My name is Johan Manaf, and I have a Malay heritage and currently single. Johan is a very unique name in Malay as it literally means "Champion". My parents have definitely chosen the right name, even though sometimes I do feel that it is a "heavy" name to carry / assume I was born in Perak, Malaysia. My dad was a teacher and my mom was a nurse, and I am the youngest of 6 brothers and sisters. However, after my studies, I have basically started my career in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and I have since called this city home. Thanks to my previous work, I have travelled quite a fair bit around the world. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Dubai, I have had the opportunity to travel not only in South East Asia, but also Middle East, and North, East and South Africa. Indeed, it has been an eye-opening experience especially when dealing with people of various cultural background. Back in Malaysia, I started to work on my own by being a tour guide, as well as a French language teacher, and here am I now. My passion was discovering new cultures, reading about the historical facts for various communities and better understand their way of life. As I dig further down the rabbit hole, only realizing there are still a lot I have yet to lean about my own culture and country, and that become my new meaning in life, to discover the historical and cultural heritage of various places and people in Malaysia, and to share that unique knowledge with others, this sharpen my appreciation toward Malaysia. I try not to be a Jack of all, and Master of nothing. Hence, I only trying to specialize in Islamic Tourism. For 9th year consecutive, Malaysia has been the number one "Halal destination" (Mastercard Crescent Rating) worldwide. Glory in my career was during the 2019 season, we had a few Moroccan tour groups (about 12) visiting and I was given 2 groups to handle. Those were the first times that I work with that particular agency handling the Moroccan market (the Traveller Malaysia, French speaking tours). At the end of the season, upon submitting claims, it came to my biggest surprised that the person in charge at Traveller informed me that I have received an exceptional review from the agency in Morocco (based on feedback from guests). With knowledge I have on the various mosques and local Islamic practices, I believe I would be a greatest host to welcome you here. Furthermore, I speak French, and I believe that it is an additional strength when welcoming visiting guests.
