Hi, just call me Wendy. I came from a family of three siblings. We are simple middle-class urban folks from Petaling Jaya but now I’m based in Langkawi, Kedah. My first career was in the banking environment for a decade before making a switch to outdoor education in Langkawi. Fours years later, I opted for nature guiding in Langkawi. As an Outdoor and Nature Guide, we are expected to have various work-related skills such as navigation, kayaking, facilitating, birdwatching and many more. It is like Jack of all skills and master of none. Being a host on Langkawi, I can promote Langkawi's natural heritage to everyone in regardless of age and nationality. By discovering nature and understanding the complexity in the web of life that interconnects all living creatures is essential to realizing the need in preserving the natural heritage. By hosting, I like to inspire others to appreciate and treat nature as they are. In addition, not only I am able to share Langkawi natural surroundings, we can exchange knowledge on nature through this experience and that’s where I find the beauty of hosting, building connection! Many people that I have met from my previous hosting are now my friends and we are still keeping in touch since then. I am a licensed Nature Guide with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. My greatest accomplishment in my guiding career was being recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture as the Best Nature Guide for year 2016/2017. I am proud of being an independent nature guide since 2013 and enjoy being a non-conformist sometimes. Even though my speciality lies in birdwatching, this doesn't mean that I am a specialist or an expert. My task as a nature guide is to show and share based on the facts that I have learned from the experts and researchers. The path to new learnings is endless, the Langkawi Nature Guide never stops.
