Make Your Own Silver Jewellery

Hosted by Dorothy - The Girl with her Diamonds

Hi, my name is Dorothy Jen, the 3rd generation of Jewellers in my family with heritage th... at’s spanned for over 70 years in George Town. My late grandfather, Martin Clement was a migrant from Guang Dong Province Taishan County, an ethnicity famous for setting up the goldsmithing industry in Malaya back in the days of British settlement. By profession, I am a Gemologist and founder of Frou Frou Fine Jewellery who has grown up watching my father crafting fine jewellery and collecting gemstones, which in turn sparked my obsession with gemstones and fine jewellery. Out of sheer passion to preserve traditional jewellery art, Dorothy Jen Atelier is formed privately as a cultural pass for guests to expand their horizon in the heritage and artistic field particularly in fine jewellery, also to experience and encourage skills learning for art & cultural diversity. Our place is the first space of its kind in UNESCO George Town with a focus on cultural art & technical training. We believe in making the fine jewellery industry more accessible and sustainable while inspiring originality and creativity. In 2014, I launched Frou Frou Fine Jewellery but with the rapid decline of jewellery craftsmen across the world, my purpose is to offer education on Jewellery Art in hope to sustain this unique legacy of immense cultural and historical significance. In honour my family’s jewellery making experience for 70 years, I hope to preserve the traditional art for the next generation. Show More
